FROZEN bananas and papayas and dried mangoes have invaded Taiwan market after the staging of the International Food Show (IFS) in that country, which was attended by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Davao Region.
The IFS is an opportunity for the SMEs from different countries to showcase their products and latest innovations such as equipment, machineries, and technology used for food processing.
Department of Industry (DTI) assistant regional director Marizon Loreto, told Sun.Star that the IFS, a five-day event held in June, this year, also provided updates on food processing for participants.
Loreto said some SMEs in Davao del Sur signed agreements with Taiwanese businessmen for the marketing of their products.
The Taiwanese businessmen, Loreto said, even ordered a container van of frozen fruits from a Dabawenyo businessman.
"Maganda ang resulta ng Taiwan Mission namin. The local businessmen were able to see different kinds of machineries used in food processing, meron pa ngang nangyaring agreement between Davao and Taiwanese businessmen regarding supply of equipment," Loreto said.
It was not the first time the DTI 11 was invited in the same country for business purposes.
Five years ago, the City Government with the DTI, embarked on a trade mission in Taiwan.
