Councilor boycotts closed-door session

COUNCILOR Victorio S. Advincula said he boycotted Tuesday's closed-door executive session about the ongoing aerial spraying ban debate because such meeting is done only when discussing issues of national security.

Advincula said holding closed-door executive sessions might draw the suspicion of the people, adding that discussions must be held openly just like in the plenary session.

"People might suspect that they are hiding something," Advincula said.

During the closed-door session, Councilor Emmanuel D. Galicia said they discussed whether the Davao City Council will wait for the result of the conclusive study ordered by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte on the harmful effects of aerial spraying on human health.

Galicia said they have decided to wait for the result of the mayor's study that will support their decision whether to ban aerial spray method or not. (BRQ)
