Trader killed in Tagum fire
A BUSINESSMAN was killed when a fire hit his store along Quezon Avenue, Tagum City, Thursday dawn.
Police identified the victim as Benito Seras, a paralytic and owner of the Belinda's Native Product store.
It was reported that the victim was sleeping inside his room when the fire happened.
According to Fire Officer 1 Edgardo Carte, duty investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire took place around 2 p.m. and originated from the back of the establishment.
"Based on witnesses, the fire started at the back of Belinda's store from the dirty kitchen," Carte said.
The fire, which lasted for an hour, also razed part of the adjacent Desmark Marketing.
The victim's wife, Belinda, said she thought her husband was able to slip out of the room when the fire started. (Eugene G. Coquilla)
