Trade dep't develops 5 top industries in Davao Sur By Joy Romares-Sevilla
FIVE priority industries will be developed in the province of Davao del Sur by the Business Development Group of the Department of Trade and Industry in Davao del Sur.
The Business Development Group of the DTI has now planned a five-year period, which shall be the basis for the implementation of projects for the development and promotion of these five priority industries -- banana, mango, wood, coconut and seaweeds.
A banana chips factory is proposed to be established in Barangay Zone 4, in Sta, Cruz.
A proposed woodcraft village in Barangay Zone 1 in Sta. Cruz is also being studied by the local government.
The issue on the location of the woodcraft village is being referred to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), considering that the location is very hazardous to motorists and the villagers.
On the other hand, the issues on the sources of raw materials to be used in the production were being resolved by other government agencies.
Other industries to be developed are now on its planning stage.
