Parokya topbills NCCC, San Miguel Octoberfest

PAROKYA ni Edgar will headline NCCC and San Miguel Corporation's Octoberfest 2006.

To grab free tickets, Parokya fanatics should shop at NCCC Supermarket and purchase P150 of any San Miguel Corporation product, P50 worth of Olay or Pantene Shampoo and P50 worth of Purefoods canned goods or Purefoods Hotdogs.

Present single on-date receipts at any NCCC Supermarket Promo Redemption Area in Tagum, Main Magsaysay and Mall Davao.

Each customer is only allowed five tickets per transaction. Promo period is from September 15 to October 20 at 5 p.m.

The show is strictly for 18 years old and above, and security will check IDs with birth dates upon entry to the concert area.

Parokya ni Edgar, gained adulation via an invitation to perform in a gig with the Eraserheads, scoring platinum albums and hit songs, Picha Pie, Don't Touch My Birdie, Inuman na, and Buloy, in the 1990s.

The group now comes into its own, with songs that are still tinged with old school prank and songwriting that has turned a movie out of Mr. Suave and its infamous "hoy-hoy-hoy-hoy-hoy-hoy" a national chant, establishing Parokya as the "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" (Philippines' National Band).

In 2005, Parokya released Halina sa Parokya adding songs to the treasure trove of original Pilipino music; like the dance-craze inspired First Day Funk, Mang Jose which tells of a superhero for hire, Papa Cologne dedicated to the Masculados (a local all-male, all brawn sing and dance group), and the Ordertaker -- a pun on the wrestler, the Undertaker and on System of a Down's Toxicity -- and its seminal take on restaurants with useless menus.

Visit any NCCC Supermarket and check posters for more details.
