Suspects in ambush of Armm exec known

POLICE have identified a suspected mastermind in the ambush-slay of the projects manager of the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao Social Fund last October 4 in Cotabato City.

Senior Inspector Samson Obatay, spokesman of the Cotabato City Police Office, said that initial investigation by Task Force Datucon points to an influential politician in Central Mindanao.

The task force was formed to solve the murder of lawyer Arnel Datucon and his driver who were ambushed last October 4.

Datucon, aside from being the Armm Social Fund project manager was a former Cotabato City councilor.

Obatay said that they have also already identified the gunmen.

But, he refused to reveal the names as they are still conducting further investigation.

Police are looking into job rivalry and clan feud as among the possible motives of the ambush.

Cotabato City Mayor Muslimin Sema has challenged authorities to immediately sue the suspects.

Right after the ambush, civilian residents of Cotabato were prohibited from wearing fatigues as the men who ambushed Datucon and his driver, Michael Mohammad, were wearing fatigue pants and were armed with M16 rifles. (GF)
