Man stabs pal after saying rosary
A PUROK leader is accused of stabbing dead his friend for still unknown reason in Barangay San Miguel in Indangan, Buhangin, Saturday night.
Killed was one Ebaresto Sarno, 44, a farmer and resident of Purok 8 in Barangay San Miguel.
The suspect is Sarno's friend, a purok leader in their neighborhood, Decederio Sarillana, 42.
The two were last seen together leaving the village chapel after attending rosary services.
Police Officer 1 Alfredo Rubrico of the Buhangin Police said the two were headed to the house of one Rosita Ambing, a widow, who invited them for a gathering at her house because it was her daughter's birthday.
The duo has just left the village chapel at around 9:30 p.m.
"The victim sustained seven stab wounds on his front body, four on his back and one in his hand," Rubrico said.
Rubrico said they still have not heard of any disagreements between the two friends, and thus they still do not know the real motive.
"Gikan pa ni sila'g chapel. But before, daan na ni silang naka-inom og isa ka galon nga tuba (They have just left the chapel, but before that they have already consumed a gallon of coconut wine)," he said.
Sarillano has since surrendered to barangay captain Virgilio Gravador with his weapon and is now detained at the Buhangin Police. (RCO)
