Tagum massacre: 6 slain, 1 critical
SIX persons, of whom five were in their teens, died in a massacre on a bridge at Barangay Visayas Village in Tagum City, Saturday night.
The dead were sprayed with bullets by two unidentified men. The six were identified as Jemuel Gandolfo, 17; Eduardo Delfin, 14, and his brother Benjamin Deldin, 20; Jeffrey Yamota, 18, and his brother John Robert Yamota, 18; and Samuel Malayan, 38.
Their other companion, Albert Encenzo, 27, survived but is in critical condition at the Medical Mission Hospital.
Four of the six died on the spot while the two others were declared dead when they were brought to the Medical Mission Hospital.
Initial investigation by the Tagum City Police Office placed the incident at around 11:15 p.m.
One of the victims was said to be a police informer, were hanging out on the bridge, drinking a gallon of coconut wine when two men arrived and peppered them with bullets.
Residents nearby who covered in fear in their respective hiding places said the killers walked away, seemingly undisturbed by what they did; they even inspected the victims pockets and stole their wallets.
The same residents, however, claim it was difficult to describe the suspects since it was dark and that the men were wearing jackets.
Recovered from the scene were 15 shells from a .45 caliber pistol and 12 shells from an M16 Armalite rifle.
Police are closely watching over Encenzo in the hope that he can help identify the killers and solve the crime. (RCO/EGC)
