Drunk driver ploughs through three people

THREE persons are in critical condition at the Davao Medical Center after a drunk driver ploughed his multicab through them while the three were crossing the highway at the junction of Nova Tierra Subdivision in Lanang Monday dawn.

The victims were identified as Erika Clarose, 19, of Narra Street, Executive Homes, Barrio Pampanga; Jonathan Parcon, 23, a resident of Doņa Asuncion, Barrio Pampanga; and Marlon Dolosa, 27, of Sto. Domingo in Sasa.

The driver, Dennis Andrada, 27, a resident of Mahogany Street in Nova Tierra is now detained at the Sasa Police Precinct.

The three were crossing the street at around 2 a.m. when Andrada ploughed through them. Witnesses said he even drove off as if nothing happened.

But two drivers of Holiday Taxi, identified as Rey Cabalu and Bienvenido Echavez, gave chase and cornered him. The drivers turned him over to police.

The victims sustained contusions and injuries on their heads and bodies.

"I didn't know that I already ran over three persons. In fact I was taken by surprise why my windshield broke," Andrada said.

Andrada admitted he imbibed some liquor. (RCO)
