Tuesday, October 17, 2006 Regulatory board warns v. housing project
THE Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) warned the public Monday against buying housing units at the proposed Corinthian Plains Subdivision somewhere in Matina.
Talks reaching Sun.Star showed that United Gilmore Land Inc., project owner and developer of the said subdivision, had been selling housing units and lots to Dabawenyos for the past days now.
The developer's agents are reportedly showing their clients a "license to sell" document issued by the HLURB to convince buyers of the legality of their deal.
A copy of the License to Sell No. 11401 was in fact procured by Sun.Star from its source. It is said to have been covered by official receipt number 01539648 dated October 10, 2006 for a P196,571 fee. The License to Sell was allegedly issued to project owner United Gilmore Land Inc.
In a text message to Sun.Star, HLURB Southern Mindanao Director Roy T. Lopez said they have not issued any certificate of registration and license to sell to Corinthian Plains Subdivision and the document being shown to prospects is most likely a fake one.
In the brochure of the Corinthian Plains Subdivision it states that the area is 50 hectares situated at Barangay Matina. It did not however state the exact location of the subdivision considering that Matina is a very big area.
It will allegedly house a total of 1,472 units at a density of 30 units per hectare.
In a call made by this reporter to a certain Manny Panes who is said to be the marketing officer of Corinthian Plains here in Davao City, Panes confirmed that their proposed subdivision is located near SM City Davao.
"About 200 meters after SM Davao, yung may bakanteng lote diyan," Panes said of the location of Corinthian Plains.
The conversation was however cut short due to bad reception.
In a call to their office, an employee confirmed that their subdivision is the vacant lot fronting Doņa Luisa right at the back of a gasoline station.
The employee however did not give further details of their operation saying it would be better for this reporter to visit their office at Door 8, Regina Complex along C.M. Recto Street.
The employee however confirmed that they have a license to sell from the HLURB.
The area is said to be owned by prominent residents of the city who have not given any permission for the development or sale of their land by the Corinthian
developer.
It was learned that Corinthian are hiring unlicensed agents that are targeting overseas Filipino workers who want to purchase a house and lot in Davao City. (BOT)
