TWO hundred children and adults wielded their paintbrushes to complete a 200-meter stretch of continuous canvas painted with marine creatures and underwater scenes.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar) try to break in to the Guinness Book of Records for the world's longest continuous painting, a record presently held by Iran.
The 200-meter canvas is Bfar-Southern Mindanao's contribution for the nationwide bid that saw professional artists, students, and artist groups gathering in the various Bfar offices nationwide last Monday to paint their share.
The painting is part of the celebration of Fisheries Conservation Week, Bfar Regional Director George Campeon said.
The mural is open for viewing until Friday at the Bfar compound along R. Magsaysay Avenue in Davao City.
The mural will then be sent over to the Bfar main office where it will be sewn to the other murals from the other regions.
"Our purpose is to create awareness about marine life," Campeon said. (SAE)
