Monday, October 23, 2006 Celebrating success, moving forward
THEY were transported back thru time -- to the 70s and 80s. They came in their best retro outfit. The atmosphere of the grand ballroom of Grand Men Seng Hotel was so festive. The occasion: The 35th Anniversary celebration of Santos Land Development Corporation.
A thanksgiving mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. William Cajes of San Pedro Cathedral Parish to thank the good Lord for the 35 years He has given the company.
An evening program followed hosted by seasoned emcees Ony Partoza and Elsie Santos.
Architect Francisco C. Santos Jr., chair of the board, cordially acknowledged all who came in his welcome speech.
It was a night of awards, recognition and honoring. Service awards were given to employees who worked for the company for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.
Erlinda A. Santos received a service award for her 35 years of loyal and dedicated service to the company.
Awards were also given to winners of the bowling tournament even as the committees who worked hand in hand for the success of the affair were also acknowledged with certificates of appreciation.
Past chair, president, treasurers and general managers of Santos Land Development Corp., who were a part of making the company what it is today were given plaques of recognition. The Santos's second generation, distinguished pillars of the company, were honored in a simple but meaningful rite.
Memories of retro days came alive once again with the dance numbers. The employees gave their best in their medley dance production of cha-cha, swing and hip-hop.
Not to be outwitted were the stockholders when they relived the movie Grease in their own dance interpretation of "Grease." It was indeed a night of discovery of dancing talents.
The highlight, however, of the celebration was the presentation of the company's new vision, mission and direction by President Antonio S. Domingo.
He said that those in Santos Land must be a new bridge anchored on a bedrock of values, designed and built by competence and nurtured by a tradition of excellence and service to others.
A new logo of the company was unveiled and presented by Chair Francisco Santos Jr. assisted by Treasurer Amado V. Santos.
The Santos 4th generation representatives received the new logo and displayed it onstage to replace the old logo.
The president together with the chair and members of the board led the toast for a continued success of the company.
Who would ever want to leave? Over a hundred raffle prizes were drawn. No one went home empty handed.
If not a prize, one went home with a souvenir photo of himself and his spouse framed in the company's new logo.
Footloose! It was dancing all night until their feet gave way to the retro music played by the live band. It was indeed a night of celebrating success and moving forward.
