Cops deployed in Panabo cemeteries since Tuesday

POLICE personnel were already deployed in all public and private cemeteries in Panabo City since Tuesday night for the safety of the people who will visit their dead relatives.

Police Chief Inspector Glenn Cristines, chief commander of the Panabo City police station, told Sun.Star Davao that they coordinated with several radio groups for the Halloween celebration.

"We have 60 effective personnel here, but not all were deployed in the cemeteries, there were those left in the station for the quick response in any eventualities that may happen, some of us are also assigned in the mobile," Cristines said.

Cristines said police personnel are mandated to check all the things of the visiting relatives before they are allowed to enter in the cemetery.

"There are already cops guarding the entrance. Playing cards, deadly weapons, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited inside the cemetery," he said.

Cristines added that Panabo Mayor Rey P. Gavina has already signed an executive order stating that all who will be caught in possession of all prohibited materials inside the cemetery will be fined.

He also advised the public to just visit the graves of their dead relatives and then go home soon after.

"Do not bring alcoholic beverages to avoid trouble. Also, they should see to it that their houses are properly locked. They (public) should not allow thieves to take advantage of the occasion," he said. (JGRS)
