Consumer-friendly stores get seal of excellence By Leonard V. Flores
KORONADAL CITY -- Fifteen business establishments in the region were awarded Bronze Seal of Excellence under the Department of Trade and Industry's Certified Establishment (DTI-CE) Project.
The awarding was done during the culmination program of this year's consumer welfare month celebration held last October 30 at the Atrium Hall of Fitmart Mall.
"This first batch of recipients include Ace Centerpoint, Tacurong Fitmart, Dadiangas Glass and Construction Supply, Cotabato Union Hardware, and Marbel Universal Trading Inc.," said by DTI Regional Director Ibrahim Guiamadel.
Other consumer-friendly stores are the Tacurong Branch of Imperial Appliance Plaza, Kidapawan and Kabacan branches of Emcor Appliance Store, the Easy Pay Finance Corporation, CSC Group Corporation, and Sarangani Province's Rays Mart, Nene Variety Store, and McKenjay Mini Mart.
Sigma Marketing in Cotabato City and Berco Machine Shop located in Kidapawan City are the DTI-accredited service and repair shops that got this award.
The Seal of Excellence should be displayed at the entrance of or in any conspicuous place within their store premises. The said Seal represents value for money from products or services sold by these certified establishments.
"The DTI-CE program gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business, where consumers indeed get value for their money," Guiamadel added.
He also elaborated that this encourages the setting up of a sustainable Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) or a DTI-recognized customer service counter that will provide information to consumers and serve as a mechanism for speedy resolution of consumer complaints.
In his inspirational speech, RD Guiamadel declared that the ultimate wisdom of this project is consumer satisfaction.
"A legitimate businessman's true goal is to elevate the overall consumer satisfaction in his society, by providing excellent products and services to meet a consumer need. A healthy competition among his peers will drive him to excellence. And excellence brings consumer satisfaction," he said.
DTI South Cotabato Provincial Director Flora Gabunales in her address said that may the first batch serves as an inspiration and motivation for other business establishments to follow.
This is a continuing program, as again, evaluation committees and certification committee in the region determine the next group of deserving establishments.
All retail establishments, supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores and DTI-accredited service and repair shops may apply for certification. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Pampanga.
