DAVAO City's International Master (IM) Oliver Dimakiling Igor Khenkin of Germany in the seventh round of the German International Open Chess Championship in Bad Wiessee, Germany Friday night.
Dimakiling's loss came on the heels of his victory over FM Ber Salvermorser in the sixth round.
RP's youngest entry Wesley So drew his match against 5th seed Ukrainian GM Vereslav Eingorn while compatriot IM Jayson Gonzales also drew with Vladim Burmakin of Russia.
IM Darwin Laylo overcame FM Ingo Cordts of Germany while IM elect John Paul Gomez succumbed to GM Jean Marc Degraeev of France.
So tallied six points while Laylo had 5.5 points and Dimakiling grabbed 5.0 along with Gonzales. Gomez trailed behind with 4.5 points. (MLSA)
