PRICES of whole dressed chicken have increased by as much as P10 to P15 per kilogram this month based on a price monitoring conducted Monday in one of the largest public markets in Davao City.

Market vendors said they have to increase their prices after distributors increase prices of dressed chicken by P8 per kilo since last month.

Venus Antipuesto, who owns a meat stall in Agdao public market, said the average selling price of dressed chicken in the market has gone up to P100-115 per kilo from P90-95 early last month.

"Naa pud uban diri P110 ang ilang presyo, last month mo-range lang ang kilo sa manok og P90-P95," Antipuesto said.

"We have to increase our prices because our distributors already increase their prices twice already since last month," she said.

Antipuesto claimed Vitarich Foods, which distributes dressed chicken in the market, has already sent four memoranda, each informing them that the company has increased the prices of dressed chicken by P2 per kilogram.

The memorandum was implemented on October 16.

"Ka-upat sila nagtaas og tag-P2 last month," Antipuesto said.

But even the prices of chicken have increased this did not surprise consumers.

Antipuesto said consumers are already aware that the prices of dressed chicken usually soar as the Yuletide season fast approaches.
