THE Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) overcame Holy Child School of Davao, 69-57, to remain on top of the juniors division 1 in the Gaisano South Cup at the GS SkyGym over the weekend.
Jose Bacaltos led the scoring for Ateneo with 15 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and two steals and issued two assists for the best player of the game honors.
Ateneo improved to an eight-win and no-loss slate while Holy Child dropped to 6-0 in the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)-sanctioned cagefest.
Michael Sebandal sparked Davao City National High School to a 79-72 victory over Jose Maria College (JMC), 79-72. He sizzled with 27 markers and 13 rebounds.
DCNHS held a 3-5 card, while JMC with 2-6. In division 2, DEBNHS grabbed its sixth straight win by whipping Philippine Women's College (PWC), 62-51 as Joseph de Guzman led the charge for the winner with 20 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.
The Sta. Ana National High School also shared the limelight by defeating Stella Maris Academy of Davao (Smad), 64-50, in the girls event.
In cadet matches, the Holy Cross Academy of Sasa (HCAS) relied mainly on Reymond Ibañez who drilled 25 points to lift the team to a 59-48 win against DCNHS while St. Peter College of Toril leaned on Gary Medina to annex a 73-59 triumph over Davao Wisdom Academy.
The Assumption College of Davao (ACD) thrashed UCCP, 94-52, in their mini division clash.
