Cops getting death threats

POLICE operatives, who shot three hired killers in a shootout and are responsible for the death of the bodyguard of Davao del Sur first district Congressman Douglas Ra. Cagas, received death threats.

Chief Inspector Ceasar Cabuhat of the Digos City Police Office made this confirmation.

The Digos police led by Inspector Editho Mande, as they responded to the shooting of Rico Condino alias Tisoy, shot dead three of the suspects, identified as Everit Prince Cuison alias Ivy, Aaron Ballarda, and Richard Lumbre alias Poloy all residents of Davao City.

"I can't understand why they are mad at us when it was part of our job. But we are ready for whatever happened because it is part of our job," Cabuhat said, adding that his men are always on red alert.

He also confirmed that there are 10 guns-for-hire in Digos City who are tasked to liquidate the police officers and other close allies of Cagas.

"But I guess they are no longer here since we have the identified them (the 10)," he said.

Cabuhat added that they have information that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested the accomplices of Cuison, Ballarda, and Lumbre who earlier escaped after the killing of Tisoy last November 10.

He said Walter Pueblo and a certain Arnold were arrested in Cagayan de Oro City.

According to Cabuhat, if the suspects will turn state witness, they will file appropriate charges against the mastermind of Tisoy's slay, codenamed Copa, as well as the retired police colonel and who is the handle of the hired killers.

"We already gave to NBI all the evidences," he added.

A retired police, who is the bodyguard of Copa, owned the motorcycle used by the killed suspects. The vehicle is in the custody of the police. (RCO/NC)
