Devastating defeat sends Erik's career in tatters

WITH his devastating defeat at the hands of Filipino gladiator Manny Pacquiao, we may have seen the last of Mexican great Erik Morales.

Morales, one of the Aztec warriors to come out of Mexico, suffered the most humiliating loss of his career Saturday after losing to Pacquiao via a devastating third-round knockout at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The wear and tear of too many wars spanning back when he was just 16 years old had taken its toll on the body of Morales.

The much younger, stronger, and faster Pacquiao battered Morales severely that the Mexican boxer is now contemplating retirement.

"For the first time in my career, I actually felt the power of an opponent like I've never felt before," Morales said after the fight.

"I was hurt by the power of his punches, and maybe it's time to think of not doing this anymore. I had a great career. Maybe it is time," he added.

Pacquiao dropped Morales three times in the fight on the way to scoring the biggest win of his career.

Morales went down in the second round and twice in the fateful third.

"He was too strong and I knew that sooner or later he would crush me. It's about time to forget it and go home," Morales said. (CRAM)
