Monday, November 27, 2006 2 Moro leaders killed in ambush
TWO members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) who remain loyal to their leader Nur Misuari were ambushed in Maguindanao Province on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, the victims were identified as Kumander Kajir Ampar, 43, and Omar Najid, 40, both residents of Poblacion Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao. The two are said to be cousins.
Initial investigations reveal that the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. as the two were traveling from Parang, Maguindanao on their way home after attending the 9th MNLF Bangsamoro National Congress.
They were ambushed at the boundary of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat Province and Maguindanao.
The victims died on the spot due to several gunshot wounds all over their bodies.
Authorities are still conducting further investigation to determine the motive for the crime. (RCO/GF)
