THE 2006 Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Christmas Age-Group Active Chess Festival will unfold on December 16 and 17 at the Spazio at third level of Gaisano Mall of Davao.
National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) regional director James Infiesto said the 30-minute Swiss System format tournament is free registration.
"Participants may register on or before December 14 at the City Sports Office or at Bonjee Entertainment Services at Giasano Mall. We require players to bring their own chess clocks," he said.
The chessfest features boys and girls eight years old and below, 10-below, 12-below, 14-below and 16-below categories.
Cash prizes and medals are up for grabs in the two-day tournament presented by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office in cooperation with the Davao City Chess Club, Inc., NCFP 11 and NCFP Mindanao Grassroots Office. (MLSA)
