"Mahina ang bentahan ng tanim ngayon kumpara last year, hindi ko pa alam kung kukuha kami ng poinsettia sa supplier namin sa Bukidnon," Virginia Salazar of Monina Gardens said in an interview.
Salazar claimed that they ordered a total of 500 pots of poinsettia last year, 50 of which were returned to their supplier.
"Kapag hindi kasi nauubos, binabalik din namin, pero ngayon hindi ko pa alam kung ilang pots ang kukunin namin," Salazar said adding they have to decide on it as soon as Monina Abadilla, the owner of Monia Gardens, is back from Thailand next week.
Salazar said the buying price of poinsettia last year ranged from P75 to P150. However, she still have no idea about its price at present.
Monina Garden, Salazar said, is selling more than 10 varieties of ornamental plants including rare ones, such as the aglonima, which is imported from Bangkok, Thailand.
"Ang pinakamahal na tanim namin, itong aglonima, P10,000 ang bigay namin sa pinakamalaki, may P5,000, 1,800, at 1,500 din, depende sa laki," Salazar said.
Meanwhile, Salazar said that the cheapest ornamental plant they sell is the euphorbia. The smallest euphorbia plant costs P20.
Salazar said the ornamental plants were maintained in the garden, the plants were given fertilizers every three months. Poinsettia plants are sprayed with insecticide every week. For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Zamboanga. For Bisaya stories from Davao. Click here.
