Gonzagas win bowlfest

VETERAN national campaigner Jojo Gonzaga and King Gonzaga took the class A and B titles, respectively, in the December SBC Bowler of the Month tournament at the Fairlanes Bowling Center Sunday night.

Gonzaga, who topped the eliminations, avenged his first game loss to beat Ivan Awid, 176-136, in the second game of their step-the-ladder finals.

Awid settled for second while Vic Pusod placed third in the Sunday Bowlers Club (SBC)-organized meet that gave away cash prizes and trophies to the winners.

Gonzaga demolished Joe Torres in just one game of their championship encounter.

The latter came second followed by Rene Dalayon in third.

Gerry Esperat emerged champion in class C over Rey Paloso and Eyoy Galindo.

Dade Toribio breezed through the ladies finals unopposed to pocket the title.

The Bowler of the Year will roll off on Sunday pitting all monthly champions of 2006.

Meanwhile, the SBC Pamaskong Handog Open Bowling Tournament will have its up-the-ladder finals on Wednesday night after the masters game.

Elimination round leader SL Bowlers grabbed the twice-to-beat advantage over next four finishers Dover-JRE, MVO Digital, Vincent and Adeding's.

Awid, Jojo Santa Maria, Ping Efondo and SBC president Emie Orteza will contest the masters title in the P30,000-bowlfest. (MLSA)
