THE Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Sportsfest Pahalipay sa Pasko Road Bike Competition will unreel on December 24 in an out-and-back course at Matina Shrine Hills.
Race director Salvador Paholio Jr. of the Samahang Siklista Kooperatiba ng Dabaw (SSikad) said the one-day event will feature the open elite and veterans categories.
"It will be a free registration race like the Mayor Duterte Kadayawan bikefest in August. The City Government allotted a total of P30,000 for the staging of the event. It includes the cash prizes at stake," Paholio said.
Guesting in Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn, the SSikad chairman said the open elite champion will pocket P4,000 while P3,000 and P2,000 will go to the second and third finishers, respectively.
"The next seven riders will each receive P500," he added.
Kadayawan open champion Ian Sabater, according to Paholio, might not be able to defend his title as he will be wed just days before the race. (MLSA)
