IN A bid to prepare the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local exporters for business year 2007, the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) in the region invited several personalities to discuss economic outlook and prospects for next year.
The forum tagged as "Year-end Briefing on SMEs and Exporters: Economic Prospects for 2007" will be held Thursday at Apo View Hotel in Davao City, 8 a.m. to noon.
The activity will serve as a venue for key government agencies to present the various initiatives and policy measures to improve the competitiveness of the SME sector.
Trade Senior Undersecretary Thomas G. Aquino will tackle the Philippine Competitiveness agenda for the Mindanao Export Industry and SMEs.
Meanwhile, Energy Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla will talk about Department of Energy and Mindanao Exports: Synergy for Improved Power Management.
To discuss about financial aspect will be Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo while Secretary Jesus G. Dureza will provide inputs on the Mindanao Trade Plan and Global Market Prospects for 2007.
Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Merly M. Cruz said the activity is a good take off for next year's economic activities of the participating sectors.
"This can give them an idea as to what to expect next year and what are the opportunities that the government offers which they can avail of," she said.
