Significant increase, on the other hand, was observed in Davao del Sur and in Davao del Norte with 0.35 percent and 2.68 percent in production, respectively.

Meanwhile, Compostela Valley Province, the one with the largest coffee production in June last year with a total volume of 2,540.68 metric tons, decreased its production by 9.66 percent. It only produced a total of 2,295.26 metric tons in June.

Davao City, on the other hand, was the second largest producing coffee in Davao Region in last year's second quarter, but the city was overtaken by Davao del Sur in terms of volume of production.

Davao City only produced 1,561.43 metric tons this June, while 1,653.80 metric tons was produced from Davao del Sur.

It was earlier reported that the regional office of the Department of Agriculture has expanded a total of 383.93 hectares of coffee plantation in at least four provinces in Davao Region excluding Davao City. (JGRS)
