Gun manufacturing firm bares interest in MT
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

AN OFFICER of a gun-manufacturing firm in the country bares interest in business process outsourcing, particularly the medical transcription, which is now in demand in the United States.

Sun.Star Network Online's 12th Asean Summit Watch

Demetrio Tuazon, chair of Armscor Philippines, said Wednesday that there are a lot of financial projections a businessman could see if is engaged in BPO.

"If I open a new business, it would be business process outsourcing particularly medical transcription," Tuazon said believing that the US Federal Law now requires documentation of every physician-patient encounter.

"We have the resources here, computers are seen almost everywhere, in the offices and schools," he said.

Medical transcription is the process of converting dictations by physicians and other healthcare professionals into an electronic text document. Medical transcriptionists provide the documentation service.

It was learned that the demand for MT professionals is growing considering that there are more than 100,000 doctors are working in the US.

Lizabel Holganza, president and school administrator of the MTC Academy in Davao City, said Filipinos now can globally do business.

"Our motto is work locally, earn globally, enough training is needed to make the job easier, all you have to do is sit, listen to a pre-recorded dictation of the physician and transcribe the dictation and you'll get paid per line inclusive of the space," Holganza said.
