Friday, December 29, 2006 Davao Oriental employees yet to receive Christmas bonus
EMPLOYEES of the Davao Oriental Provincial Government are facing another bleak New Year celebration after the government decided not to give their P6,000 Christmas bonus for third year in a row.
Highly placed sources told Sun.Star that Governor Ma. Elena Palma Gil decided not to release the bonus since majority of the provincial employees are against her administration.
Board Member Nelson Dayanghirang confirmed the statement of the source.
Dayanghirang claimed that the Provincial Board has filed a resolution giving Christmas bonus to provincial employees, but the governor reportedly dismissed it.
"We had a request already, but there was no budget. She could only loose a few votes since there are only few employees in the Capitol," Dayanghirang said. "She refused to give because she knew the Capitol employees is not on her side."
Sun.Star tried to get the reaction of the governor's office but they remained mum on the issue. (BOT)
