Wednesday, January 03, 2007 Police chief all set to enter politics
POLICE Director Isidro Lapeña aired his intention anew to go into politics "should the city call for it."
He issued this statement following the ceremony Tuesday morning at the Davao City Police Office where he announced his retirement effective the same day.
Lapeña said he hopes the work he has done may help those who are left behind navigate the police service.
He added that he will always be a friend to the Philippine National Police as he had contributed to the fulfillment of its mission.
Lapeña was given a Plaque of Appreciation upon his retirement for exemplary service rendered in the past 34 years on the force and as Davao City Police Office chief from 1996 to 1998.
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said that Lapeña is not meant for small things.
Duterte said Lapeña is only fit for the mayoralty or a higher position. (GLP)
