Wednesday, January 03, 2007 Sabaldan: Home Alone By Romy Sabaldan Davao Beat
ERRATUM. My apology to Inday Sara Zimmerman Duterte for the inaccurate presentation of her official Christmas greetings adapted as the addendum of my previous column.
Davao's up and coming "Pretty Fraulien" in Davao politics had this 2007 Calendar greetings in its pristine form: "Malipayong Pasko ug Bulahang Bag-ong Tuig Kaninyong Tanan!"
Bulahan is different from Mabungahon, which was the term I had in mind without double-checking the precise words. Kaninyong Tanan was also put ahead first of the message. The equivalent English words are blessed and fruitful or prosperous. In any event, these two words are not far from each other in substance and form.
Another apology is in order for my colleagues at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) especially our birthday boy Frank Leva, the most durable auditor of the state-managed communications group.
Two romantic reasons: First. I was "Home Alone" with my wife on the 31st of December since my two sports analysts had gone home to the boondocks to celebrate the New Year with their lola. Felix Irlandez was forgiving saying that for the whole year that was my only chance to play "hide and seek" with my wife. Second, It was raining very hard in our place so we thought that it was a God-given moment.
Another romantic reason was that shortly before midnight the lights went off and we finally had the chance to go on with our "Dinner in the Candlelight." This was something that we had failed to do on Christmas Eve because of the immediate intervention of Ross Luga in sending the A-Team (Ayos Team) of the Davao Light and Power Company to fix the unscheduled power interruption.
If Manny Pacquiao is the "Fighter of the Year," John Philip S., my sports analyst, should be adjudged as the "Best Guard" of Davao for limiting Christopher Lawrence Go to only 11 points in their one and only encounter at the Almendras Gym. Bong Go's Dwyane Wade-like manner of shooting in the rainbow territory has made him the most feared three-point shooter hereabouts. His previous outing against the best team of the PNP had him rising towards the challenge against their best guard with more than 40 points. He is not called Bong Go for nothing.
Let me share to you some special thoughts of the season. From one of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's most active women campaigners in the Laurel country of Batangas is this start-of-the-year addendum.
New Year Beat: Happy Christmas Romy! May Jesus reign in your hearts. Wishing you blessings of abundance and peace this New Year & always much joy. -- Inday Arcenas
