Davao-made bags now available in other cities in Mindano
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

A BAG-making firm based in Davao City is now accommodating bulk of clients from at least four key cities in Mindanao -- General Santos City, Cotabato, Zamboanga, and Kidapawan.

Nacie Calub, owner of the JF Bag Supplies, maker of all kinds of bags located on Quezon Boulevard, told Sun.Star they have established good relations with their clients by providing them quality products.

Calub claimed that last month, the JF Bag Supplies earned a profit of roughly P200,000.

"Malakas kasi ang bentahan 'pag December at June. Pag December kasi, marami ang orders pang-give aways," she said.

Calub added that she and her husband, Eliseo, used to travel to General Santos City, Zamboanga City, Cotabato, and Kidapawan for trade purposes.

"Kapag may mga events at fiestas, nagbibiyahe kami, nagdi-display kami ng mga products," Calub said.

It was learned the couple has been into the business for 10 years now. Eliseo decided to put up his own type of business after six years of being a bag-maker in Davao City.

Meanwhile, Calub revealed their business has been affected by the presence of China-made bags in the local market, which are really very cheap.

"As a whole, kung profit ang titingnan, hindi na masyado mataas kasi may mga kumpetisyon na, may mga bags din na made in China na mura, syempre, yun ang prefer na bibilhin," Calub said.

JF Bag Supplies is offering bags for as low as P65. However, P200 can buy a fine and durable bag.

"Tiyaga lang ang kailangan kung mag-invest sa ganitong business, hindi talaga uunlad kung walang tiyaga lalo pa may mga kumpetisyon," Calub advised those who wanted to invest in the same business.

On the other hand, the Calubs said they are aiming to put up another branch in Davao City or lease a space at a mall to cater their growing clientele.
