Cash prizes up for grabs in fun run

CASH prizes and certificates are up for grabs in the Takbo Kabataan Anti-Smoking Fun Run kicking off at 6 a.m. on Sunday in an out-and-back course from Rizal Park.

Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Davao City president April Marie Dayap said the first 500 registrants will avail of souvenir shirts while the rest of the participants will get raffle coupons and race certificates.

Dayap said proceeds of the fun run will go to certain beneficiaries.

"Aside from helping our beneficiaries, the participants can join our raffle. P10,000 worth of items will be raffled off for the runners," Dayap said at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.

Dayap, accompanied by her aide Dino Paolo Ouano, said she will also join the event but admitted she can only run a few meters.

"Hindi ko po kakayanin ang 5k, konting distansya lang siguro ang maitatakbo ko (I can't finish the 5K, I'll just run a short distance)," she smiled.

The race features a 10K men's and women's open, 5K men's and women's open, 5k inter-barangay male and female events, inter-high school male and female categories.

The running activity is jointly organized by the Office of the SK Federation of Davao City, Anti-Smoking Task Force Davao and Digital Pixmaker. (MLSA)
