UM, HCDC play for title

ARCH-rivals University of Mindanao Wildcats and Holy Cross of Davao College Crusaders arranged another titular clash after blasting separate semifinal opponents Wednesday in the Pahalipay ni Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament at the Almendras Gym.

The Manny Nitorreda-coached Wildcats ravaged the Jose Maria College (JMC) Kings, 83-57, while the Crusaders sank the Agro-Industrial Foundation College (AIFC) Sailors, 94-73.

Alvin Calatuyod drilled 20 points, while Ryan Calimpong added 16 markers to lead scoring for the highly touted Wildcats.

Arnel Amoguis scored game-high 21 points for the Kings' losing cause in the cagefest presented by Mayor Duterte through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office under city sports coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go.

The Kings were set to play the Sailors at 5 p.m. Thursday followed by the Wildcats-Crusaders championship match.

Cash prizes will be given away to the winners during the awarding rites set after the finals game Thursday night.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) 11 headed by its regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.
