Monday, January 22, 2007 Doc heads Ambassadors club
DR. ROY FERRER, a leading diabetologist in the region, will take his oath of office as new president of the Ambassadors Club in Davao City, an international socio-civic organization whose members are addressed as "ambassador," during appropriate ceremony at the Marco Polo Davao on January 27.
Dr. Ferrer was elected to succeed lawyer Leoncio "Nonoy" VillaAbrille, 2006 chapter president.
Helmut Klause, past world president of the Ambassadors International, will administer the oath of Dr. Ferrer together with the other officers -Antonio M. Ajero, vice president; Councilor Mabel S. Acosta, secretary; and Councilor Susabel Reta, treasurer.
Vice Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan, re-elected Ambassadors national president, will give an inspirational talk.
Ambassadors Janet Chang, international director for Asia; and Peter Soo, Philippine secretary-general, will also grace the occasion and deliver messages.
The international organization commemorated its 50th anniversary in time for its international convention in Bern, Switzerland, September last year. A delegation of 24 members from Davao and Manila led by Ambassadors Bonguyan, VillaAbrille and Ferrer attended the gathering, after which the group toured many historical and religious spots of Europe.
