THE University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) and Davao Doctors College (DDC) beat their respective rivals in the men's volleyball event of the 2007 Davao City Private Schools Athletic Association (DC-Prisaa) Meet at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina Gym Sunday.
The UIC spikers pulled off a 25-13, 25-20 victory over San Pedro College (SPC), while DDC shattered Brokenshire College, 25-18, 25-21.
In the distaff side, heavy favorites UM and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) grabbed their second straight wins in brackets A and B, respectively.
UM overcame DDC, 25-12, 25-11, while HCDC spanked Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), 25-12, 25-12.
SPC also entered the winning column after a thrilling 27-25, 25-16 win against UIC in the volleyfest sanctioned by the Davao Amateur Volleyball Association (Dava).
In basketball, Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Pahalipay ni Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament champion UM Wildcats stripped DDC, 121-38, while the HCDC Crusaders routed AdDU Blue Knights, 75-58, in men's event.
SPC edged Brokenshire, 63-60, in the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)-sanctioned cagefest.
The Ateneo cagebelles thrashed Brokenshire, 66-30, in the lone women's match featured.
DC-Prisaa athletic manager Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia said games set on Saturday and Sunday might be reset on February 3 and 4 considering the examinations schedule of some participating school teams.
The formal opening of the DC Prisaa Meet is on February 16 yet where 12 other sports aside from basketball and volleyball will also be contested.
Qualified city athletes and teams will advance to the Regional Prisaa Meet.
