CANLUBANG will seek its 14th crown when the 60th Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub fires off in Cagayan de Oro from Feb. 16-24.
The Sugar Barons bagged their 13th title last year here in Davao City, completing a rare double after winning both the regular Men's and Seniors Division plums at the Apo Golf and Country Club and Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.
Canlubang relied on homegrown talents to rule the 59th edition. The likes of Jonel Ababa, Jay Bayron and Mark Zaragoza provided the spark for the Sugar Barons' stellar year.
With long-time skipper Luigi Yulo calling the shots again, Canlubang is expected to draw challenge from Manila Southwoods and Del Monte, both former winners.
The PAL Interclub, the country's oldest tournament involving men and senior golfers, will actually be played in Cagayan de Oro City and Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Teams from all over the country as well as those from the
United States and Canada, are again expected take part in the annual event Pal executives conceptualized in 1947.
The 20th seniors event will be played from February 16 to 18 and the 60th edition of the regular division is set February 21-24 at the Pueblo de Oro Golf in Cagayan and Country Club and Del Monte Golf and Country Club in Manolo Fortich.
The ceremonial tee off for the senior division is set at 8 a.m. February 15 while the ceremonial tee off for the regular division is at 8 a.m. February 20.
The awards night for both divisions will be held at the Atrium, Lim Ket Kai Center in Cagayan de Oro.
