Prices of chicken down
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

AFTER four weeks of waiting, prices of chicken in Davao City's public markets finally went down after distributors cut their prices.

Venus Antipuesto, chicken vendor at the Agdao public market, claimed that the selling price of whole dressed chicken is now pegged at P105 to P110 per kilo as compared to P110 to P120 per kilogram last month.

Chicken distributors in the city's public markets cut their retail price from P97 per kilo to P91.

"Bumaba ang bigay sa amin ng distributor mga third week of January, P91 na ang capital namin, dati is P97," Antipuesto told Sun.Star.

She said based on her experience as a vendor for several years now, chicken prices will start to increase again by June as the school year begins.

"Mga June at December kadalasan tumataas ang presyo ng manok," she said.

Antipuesto meanwhile said price of chicken is not affected by weather such as continuous heavy rains, which Davao Region has experienced recently.

"Hindi naapektuhan ang presyo pero ang benta, malaki ang nawawala sa amin kasi yung mga nagbibenta ng lechon manok at barbaque halimbawa, minsan di gaanong marami ang binibili nila," she explained.

Prices of chicken liver costs P90 per kilogram for retail, while P85 is its selling price per kilogram for wholesale.

Prices of chicken gizzard on the other hand are pegged at P100 to P110 per kilogram at present.
