Tuesday, January 30, 2007 Trade dep't file raps v. 58 firms in DavSur
THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Davao del Sur has formally filed charges against 58 business establishments in the province last year, for violating fair trade laws.
Facing charges are various establishments in province's eight municipalities and one city -- Digos City, Bansalan, Magsaysay, Malita, Matanao, Padada, Sta. Maria, Sta. Cruz, and Sulop.
In a report submitted by DTI-Davao del Sur to the regional office of the DTI, it showed that a total of 20 business establishments were formally charged by the DTI in Digos City, while 11 firms in Padada, seven in Sta. Cruz, six in Matanao, five in Magsaysay, four firms in Malita, three in Sta. Maria, and one each in Bansalan and Sulop.
DTI also said it has warned seven different establishments in Jose Abad Santos after the Consumer Welfare Trade and Industry Division team of the DTI conducted enforcement activities last year.
The enforcement activities were done in line with the agency's thrust to further advance the cause of consumer protection, thereby, giving the best value of money to consumers. (JGRS)
