ONCE again, GMA Films ties up with Regal Entertainment Inc. to deliver the movie event of this Valentine season, The Promise.
The Promise is an adaptation of the romance classic Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte) and the unforgettable 1991 film, Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit, which starred Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.
The screenplay of "The Promise" was done by Raquel Villavicencio who did the screenplay of Hihintayin Kita sa Langit as well.
Multi-awarded Carlos Siguion-Reyna directed Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit in 1991. This time, young and talented Mike Tuviera takes the reigns in directing the most prized love team in the country today.
The Promise presents young superstars Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin in more serious and daring roles, different from what they do for television and past movies.
Moviegoers will surely look forward to the Richard-Angel team up in The Promise and the transition they have made from the usual kilig love team formula projects to the more solid and mature ones, beginning with this endeavor.
The project is quite ambitious as it veers away from the young love team formula that catapulted both Angel and Richard to stardom. The on screen presence and chemistry of the two artists shines beautifully in this film, backdrop by scenic locations that set the mood for a superb romantic movie.
Romance is definitely back and GMA Films together with Regal Films join forces to give the Filipino viewers the best of romance with The Promise this Valentine season. This is indeed the movie to watch this Valentine season.
