NORTH Cotabato Governor Manny Piñol recently took his oath as the provincial party chapter chairman of the administration Lakas-CMD Party in simple ceremonies in Manila before House Speaker Jose de Venecia and other party stalwarts.

The designation of Piñol, who is now on his last term, as party chairman of the administration party for North Cotabato, practically settled the issue on who will be the administration candidates in the province during the 2007 elections.

As party chairman for North Cotabato, Piñol will be given the power to issue party nomination to all administration candidates in the province, from councilor, mayor to provincial board members.

"Claims and counterclaims on who would be the official candidates of the administration party in the coming elections would now be settled with my designation as party chairman for North Cotabato," Piñol said.

Earlier, Piñol announced his endorsement for Vice Governor Jesus N. Sacdalan as the Lakas-CMD official candidate for governor.

He has already submitted the tentative list of official candidates for mayor, vice mayor, and councilors in several towns in the province to the national party for the printing of the sample ballots.

Lakas-CMD candidates, being members of the dominant majority party, will be entitled to a copy of the election returns from each of the precincts, which is important in safeguarding their votes.

The other copy of the election returns will be given to the accredited opposition party.

Independent candidates and those who belong to other parties will not be entitled to a copy of the election returns.

Key leaders of the Lakas-CMD from all over the country attended the oath taking of Piñol.
