CDST bags 3 golds, 5 silvers in Laguna By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan
THE Coastland Davao Swim Team (CDST) bagged a total of three gold medals and five silvers at the start of the National Youth Selection Trials at the Trace Aquatics Center in Los Baños, Laguna Friday.
Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Ana Celina Gonzalez added a feather on her cap by sweeping two golds and one silver in the girls 13-14 category while Dom Venuti added one gold in boys 13-14.
Gonzalez' cousin Jose Joaquin "Joboy" Gonzalez got two silvers in boys 13-14 while Alyanna Malabanan and Bea Nazareno salvaged a silver each in girls 13-14 and girls 11-12, respectively.
Former Ateneo de Davao University standouts Celina, Joboy and Malabanan are now based at Trace College as members of the RP youth swimming developmental pool.
A total of 20 CDST bets are seeing action in the three-day Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa)-sanctioned meet that serves as a qualifying tournament for the Southeast Asian AGe-Group Swimming Championships in Singapore in June.
The Jun Rodriguez-coached CDST is also bannered by Althaea Benignos, Jam Dagdag, Sweet Altamera, Bianca Dizon, Rachel Kehl, Jessica Pineda, Ethel Pobre, Uno Evangelista, Brian Panganiban, Joshua Protacio, Boggey Angala, Gianina Gonzalez, Allan Jovero, Bajjio Malabanan and Mika Isaguirre.
