Corteza wins 10-ball title, P140T cash
REIGNING All-Japan Open champion Lee Vann Corteza of Davao City crushed former World No. 1 Francisco "Django" Bustamante, 13-4, to win the 10-Ball Grand Derby finals at the Efren Magic Billiards Center in Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City Thursday night.
Corteza, who hails from Mintal, was behind 0-2 but came back strong to bag the P140,000 cash prize in the winners' break event. Bustamante settled for the P140,000 runner-up prize.
The Dabawenyo consistent Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist survived an 11-9 victory over Roberto Gomez while Bustamante routed Efren "Bata" Reyes, 11-2.
DOHA Asian Games silver medalist Jeffrey de Luna, 2006 Asian 9-ball Tour Taiwan leg winner Rodolfo Luat and veteran Leonardo Andam also competed in the 10-ball cuefest.
Corteza will next see action in the Manny Pacquiao 10-ball tournament in General Santos City on February 26 to 29 where P500,000 cash awaits the champion.
