Cooperate with LTO: Mayor tells motorcycle dealers By Carlo P. Mallo
DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte sternly warned distributors of motorcycles to secure the registration of motorcycles before they release these to anyone.
This developed after Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Southern Mindanao Director Gomer Dy revealed that motorcycle dealers do not usually cooperate with LTO.
Duterte, in his regular Sunday TV show "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa", promised to "make life hard" for motorcycle dealers who refuse to register the vehicles they sell.
The mayor also announced that he would be issuing an executive order that would mandate all motor vehicle dealers not to release any motorcycle vehicle unless it has been registered.
Violators will face civil liabilities and will be charged as accomplice to the crime where unregistered motorcycles are involved.
Dy said at least eight out of 10 motorcycles in the region are not registered or are driven without the appropriate license.
