Village chiefs push vice guv's gubernatorial bid
By Ben O. Tesiorna

NINETEEN village chiefs of New Corella in Davao del Norte formally endorsed Vice Governor Rafael Anthony del Rosario as their gubernatorial bet in the May elections.

In a resolution they recently submitted to Secretary Rodolfo del Rosario, 19 out of the 20 village chiefs endorsed the young del Rosario, along with Victorio "Baby" Suaybaguio for vice governor, Ariel Olano as representative for the first district, Mayor Jose Recardo Federiso, and Leopoldo Monteroso as board members for the first district.

Post your Valentine's Day greetings

The endorsement came in light of the rumors that last-term Representative Tonyboy Floirendo is interested in running for governor.

In the barangay resolution, the village chiefs said the candidates they have endorsed "have integrity, competence and commitment to serve the people of Davao del Norte, as shown in their performances and leadership in their respective constituency for several years."

Secretary Rosario, being the provincial and regional Lakas CMD party head, is in-charge of coming up with the official administration candidates for the province.

They have already released the official line up for the Second District last week but surprisingly had none yet for the First District until Tuesday.

Aside from Vice Governor del Rosario, other aspirants for the gubernatorial post are incumbent Governor Gelacio Gementiza and former Transportation and Communications secretary Pantaleon "Bebot" Alvarez.

The Floirendo camp has denied that Tonyboy is interested in running for the post.

Suaybaguio, meanwhile, urged the young del Rosario to "assert his right as the next governor of the province."
