Saturday, February 17, 2007 Doc to purchase P47-M heart equipment By Carlo P. Mallo
THE Heart Institute of the Davao Doctor's Hospital on Thursday inked a deal with German technology-giant, Siemens, for the acquisition of a Siemens Axiom Artis Cath Lab System (cath lab).
The P47 million state-of-the-art equipment is the latest model of its kind offered by the German brand.
Dr. Dominador Cabrera, president and CEO of Davao Doctor's Hospital, said the acquisition further strengthens the core value of the hospital, which is to serve the people with the best quality at the lowest possible cost.
Davao Doctor's Hospital's Heart Institute started operations way back in October 2004 and is the best cardiac facility in the entire Mindanao, asserts Dr. Bernard Chiew, chief of the Heart Institute.
Chiew also said that despite the young age of the institute, they have been aggressively upgrading their facilities to continue to be at par with the best hospitals not only in the country but even in the East Asean Growth Area, a trade aggrupation of the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines.
While chair of the board Dr. Honorio Hilario said the procurement of the facility is primarily because they do not want to shortchange their clients but would want to give them the best healthcare possible.
The new cath lab will be available in the hospital within the next four to six months.
