By Marianne L. Saberon-Abalayan

THE Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS) and Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai (PNJK) scored rousing wins over separate rivals Thursday in the 2nd Davao City Baseball Cup at the University of Mindanao (UM)-Matina field.

Post your Valentine's Day greetings

The CBNHS clouters crushed Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS), 12-0, in the high school category while PNJK batters blanked Calinan, 19-0, in the elementary division.

The Baguio National High School (BNHS) trounced Bustamante National High School (BNHS), 6-0, in the four-day meet sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (Paba) Region 11.

The Crossing Bayabas Elementary School (CBES) also shared the limelight by pulling off an overwhelming 17-0 victory over Mulig Elementary School of Toril.

Games were still ongoing as of this writing.

The finals match is set today with Datu Uchida Development Foundation president Tatsuo Uchida and his son, sports coordinator Yusuke Uchida, and Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School administrator Ines Mallari expected to be in attendance.

A cash prize of P8,000 each is in the offing for the elementary and secondary champions. They will also receive huge trophies and brand new baseball equipment.

The runners-up will receive P4,000 while the third-placers will get P2,000.

Organizers and sponsors will give away a victory party for the winners at the Waterfront Insular Hotel tonight.
