Dabawenyo fans thrilled by admin Senate bets
By Ben O. Tesiorna

IT WAS a fans day of sorts for Dabawenyos Sunday as they were treated to star-studded senatorial line up of the administration who arrived here in Davao City on the same day.

All 12 senators of the administration's Team Unity were present, as they toured around malls, attended a mass at the San Pedro Cathedral, and had a proclamation rally at the Rizal Park.

Post your Valentine's Day greetings

First to arrive during a luncheon press conference were Tito Sotto and Tessie Aquino-Oreta who were both known critics of the administration before but are now part of the administration lineup.

Young lawmakers Mike Defensor and Miguel Zubiri arrived next followed by actor Cesar Montano, Sultan Kiram, Joker Arroyo, Vic Magsaysay, Butch Pichay, Edgardo Angara, Ralph Recto, and last to arrive was Governor Chavit Singson.

In their brief speeches, all senatorial candidates vowed to work with the administration for a better government.

Sotto and Oreta said that although they came from the opposition, they nevertheless wanted the nation to move forward, thus their decision to unite with the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Pichay, who earlier opposed the inclusion of the oppositionists to the administration line-up, said they only reach out to "responsible opposition" and not those who want to overthrow the government.

Montano meanwhile expressed gratitude for being included in the Team Unity and described their line-up as "silhig tukog," which represents strength in unity.

Lakas-CMD secretary general and House Majority Leader Prospero Nograles was in attendance along with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte, in his speech, urged all Dabawenyos to support the Team Unity ticket, as he likened Team Unity to the Nograles-Duterte alliance, which was proven to be good for the Dabawenyos, he said.
