THE Philippine Women's College of Davao celebration of the 20th Year Founding Anniversary of The Helena Z. Benitez School of Fine Arts and Culture (HZB-SFAC) was a mix-match week of arts, culture, interior design, and fun at the Entertainment Plaza of SM City-Davao last February 4 to 10.
Aside from the students, alumni artists and past faculty members were also invited to showcase their choice masterpieces for the 10th edition of HZB-SFAC's Annual Student Art and Design Exhibition.
Paintings, sculpture, photography workshop folio, fashion illustration and styling projects, interior design mock-up and thesis projects were among the works showcased in the exhibition.
Day 1 saw the opening and inking of a "20 point 10" effigy by PWC Trustee and restaurateur Charito Lizada; lawyer Jude Ralph Yap; PWC alumna and daughter of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Atty. Sara Duterte; Councilors Susabel Reta and Peter T. Laviña; and art patron and owner of RL Leitz, Inc., Elizabeth SP Leitz.
The whole week saw the art students and faculty setting up a fashion show, art instructional films, lectures, and on-the-spot painting competition for all schools, led by HZB-SFAC program chair Brenda Z. Barba, Bruce Brown, faculty for Sculpture and Anatomy, artists Rob Tañedo and Leah Masiglat, guest artist and student-on-leave, Obet Acyatan, and HZB-SFAC students and faculty of.
No less than the President of PWU and PWC, Dr. Amelou Benitez Reyes, and Chairperson Emeritus, Dr. Helena Z. Benitez, graced the program. They were joined by an entourage of trustees from Manila.
Dedicated as an educational venue for the artists in Mindanao, the NZB-SFAC renews its commitment to uphold the Philwomenian spirit in the context of serving Filipinos, its friends from neighboring countries and those from other countries.
