Councilor clarifies issue on 'supporting' Kiko

DAVAO City Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta clarified the issue regarding her support for the candidacy of independent senatorial candidate Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan despite her being a member of the administration's local unity ticket.

Acosta was seen with Pangilinan last week while the senator was doing the rounds here in Davao City and Igacos.

In a text message, Acosta said Pangilinan is a friend of hers way back in her college days.

"Senator Kiko is a friend from way back in college in UP Diliman. When my friends come over, I meet them and show them Davao and let them feel the warm hospitality of the Dabawenyos," Acosta said.

Some members of the unity ticket raised their eyebrows on Acosta's "full support" to Pangilinan's sortie here last week.

As member of the unity ticket, Acosta and all of the other members must only support the Team Unity senatorial lineup of the administration.

Pangilinan is an independent candidate but was adopted by the Genuine Opposition of former President Joseph Estrada. (BOT)
