Police help remove illegal election posters
By Ben O. Tesiorna

THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is helping the Commission on Elections (Comelec) remove political posters that are illegally placed outside the designated common poster areas in the city.

DCPO Chief Jaime Morente said as member of Comelec's Task Force Baklas, the DCPO has been monitoring senatorial and party-list posters that violate Comelec rules and has started taking the posters out.

On Monday, cops from the Buhangin Police were seen cleaning the walls along Buhangin road that were littered with political posters.

Morente said this will be part of their regular activity this election period in tandem with Comelec and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

The Comelec has already designated several common poster areas in the city that are usually found fronting barangay halls, public markets, schools, and main road intersections.

Despite the designation of the common poster areas, many are however still posting their posters outside the assigned area.
